At the beginning of 2020, the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia in Wuhan shocked the world; at the end of 2020, "Reality and Ideal: Hubei Contemporary Art 2020" gathered 21 Hubei artists to gather at the Sichuan Blue Roof Art Museum to write about this journey of physical and mental suffering through creation. This exhibition is especially for Hubei to bear the brunt of the epidemic, and I express my heartfelt feelings. At the same time, I thank the Quartet for its selfless disaster relief and the kindness of the city's alternative closure during the epidemic.
The independent curator Lan Qingwei said that this exhibition is like a Chinese contemporary A special sample from the history photo background removing of art: This exhibition is by no means an eye-catching "epidemic exhibition". The presentation of the entire exhibition is as simple as a quiet bookmark in a thick dictionary. The past is like this, life continues, and art, as a part of life, also faithfully presents the bits and pieces of life. Among them, Li Jikai (1975-)'s works such as "Grand Landscape 2020" and "Underground Baby" use various mushrooms to appropriately and deeply express the prosperous environment of the epidemic swallowing the city, the dead silence of the closed city and the contrast of dark and light colors.
The mocking of the mushrooms misplaced time and space, mushrooms are treasures in the mountains, but mushrooms in the city. Li Jikai created a series of epidemic paintings. He used mushrooms as symbols. When a person's body is covered with mushrooms, all the outlets of the breath seem to be blocked. Darkness and silence occupy the upper position, which makes it difficult for the body to circulate and the vitality gradually dissipates. , whether for people or Wuhan, the scene of mushrooms and masks has written a sudden and frightening memory in the history of Chinese art.
