Father in heaven,

You have revealed Yourself to us in the words and works of Your Son, our Solid Rock, Jesus Christ.

Today, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, grant us ears to hear His words and eyes to see His works,

so that we may be like the wise who build their houses on sure foundations.

When the rains fall: Christ, be our hope.

When the floods come: Christ, be our stay.

When the winds blow: Christ, be our rest.

Father, by Your grace, grant us the faith to stand on Jesus Christ, the Solid Rock, and to boldly confess:

All other ground is sinking sand.

The Lord’s Prayer  (Click link to listen then close song page to return)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Lord God, Almighty and everlasting Father, it is You who has brought us in safety to this new day.

Preserve us with Your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, but be obedient to Your will and ways.

Help us Lord, to not be overcome by adversity, but by Your strength and direction fulfill all of Your purpose in us.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE   “Gloria Patri"   (Click link to listen then close YouTube page to return)

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost!  As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be!

World without end, Amen, Amen!

Luke 12:13-21 The Message (MSG)

The Story of the Greedy Farmer

13 Someone out of the crowd said, “Teacher, order my brother to give me a fair share of the family inheritance.”

14 He replied, “Mister, what makes you think it’s any of my business to be a judge or mediator for you?”

15 Speaking to the people, he went on, “Take care! Protect yourself against the least bit of greed.

Life is not defined by what you have, even when you have a lot.”

16-19 Then he told them this story: “The farm of a certain rich man

produced a terrific crop. He talked to himself: ‘What can I do? My barn

isn’t big enough for this harvest.’ Then he said, ‘Here’s what I’ll do: I’ll

tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll gather in all my

grain and goods, and I’ll say to myself, Self, you’ve done well! You’ve

got it made and can now retire. Take it easy and have the time of your life!’

20 “Just then God showed up and said, ‘Fool! Tonight you die. And your

barnful of goods—who gets it?’

21 “That’s what happens when you fill your barn with Self and not with God."
